Weekend Summary
Finishing is Winning. With selfies in Saturday sunshine. (Photo: Marshall Moleschi)
The second edition went pretty smoothly by all reports. Once again, it was -5C and fresh snow on the Saturday followed by -7C and sunshine for Sunday. This year, the free technique went first and classic second.
Saturday featured quite a lot of new snow, with a few centimetres correctly predicted between 3am and 6am. And then at about 7am a bonus flurry arrived, dumping another 10-15cm of the fluffy stuff and making the roads just a little more exciting.
Sunday brought less surprises, just sunshine and smiles. The recommended grip wax was Swix VP45 (blue) covered with VP40 on great day for classic skiing.
The main feature both days was a LOT of smiles, with many skiers celebrating the 'Finishing is Winning' spirit among the dancing stuffies on the finish line.
There were a few very fast skiers, including active and former Canadian and US national team members and Olympians, all of whom skied so fast they missed the chance to see Alder Point in full sunshine on Saturday.
